Social media: making it work MORE for you!

During these unprecedented times we’re all wondering whether our extra time spent using online apps is being used to the best effect. As they’re actually some of your most powerful sales and communication tools, we’ve put together 5 helpful tips on how to keep your online presence engaging and useful.


1: Make use of Instagram’s #hashtags.

Did you know that Instagram allows you to add 30 hashtags to each post? Whereas Twitter and LinkedIn recommend a maximum of 3. To make it easier, we’ve put these into 2 categories for you: low density hashtags and high-density hashtags. These refer to the amount of posts each hashtag has. Low density hashtags don’t have as many people tagging them as high-density hashtags.

Appearing on both these pages within Instagram is important firstly because it is easier to get to the top of a low-density hashtag with less people using it, and secondly, the higher density hashtags have more people tagging and therefore looking at them. Research your hashtags by typing them into the search bar under the ‘Tags’ menu on your Instagram app, this will give you the number of posts with that hashtag.


2: Don’t expect your audience to travel for you – digitally of course!

Make sure you update the links in your description, hyperlink any suggested web pages in your blogs and remind yourself to make use of the ‘@’ when tagging on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

3: Show your face!

Even if you’re shy, try and put a little bit of you onto your page. This could be a professional photoshoot for your team headshots, or you could even snap a few candid’s
around the office on your iPhone!

4:  Boost your posts

This isn’t for everyone and you definitely don’t want to go pouring your budget into online adverts without the proper know how. However, if you fancy setting a small budget aside then this can be a great way to get a specific and new audience to see your product or service.

5:  Last, but one of the most important points, is photography – a picture really can speak many words!

Show your best side by presenting attractive and well curated photographs; customers are more attracted to visual stimulus and will be a lot more likely to have a
scroll through your feed if your photos are well curated and professional.
